Dennis Caywood DVM, MS, DACVS, CCRT
Dr. Dennis Caywood received his DVM degree from the University of Missouri, in 1975. He then completed a small animal internship and surgical residency at the University of Minnesota, before becoming a faculty member in their Department of Small Animal Surgery in 1978. In 1981 he was certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr. Caywood was a Professor of General and Orthopedic Small Animal Surgery at the University of Minnesota until 1998. He has lectured extensively to veterinarians worldwide. He has published numerous veterinary research and clinical papers as well as textbook chapters. Dr. Caywood is the editor of two sections of Textbook of Small Animal Surgery (W.B Saunders 1st ed. 1985 and 2nd ed. 1993) and a Veterinary Clinics of North America: Small Animal Practice Symposium on Thoracic Surgery (W.B. Saunders, 1987). In addition, he is the co-author of three textbooks (Atlas of General Small Animal Surgery; C.V. Mosby, 1989, Small Animal Orthopedics Illustrated; Mosby, 1993 and Complications of Small Animal Surgery, Williams & Wilkins, 1996). He has served on the examination committee and the Board of Regents for the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Before joining Pfizer Animal Health in 2006, Dr, Caywood was in a small animal surgery specialty referral practice in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN for 10 years. Dr. Caywood received certification in Canine Rehabilitation in October 2008.
